Michaelmas Festival & Potluck
Friday | September 29 | 5:30 – 7pm
(Grades Early Release 1:00pm. Aftercare will be offered from 1:00 to 3:30pm.)
Michaelmas, a festival of awakening the “will” and fostering “courage”, is celebrated in Waldorf schools across the globe. Michael, translates to a question, “Who is like God?” and calls on our higher forces to face our inner “dragons”. This time of year, when the summer’s sun wanes and the cold and crisp air begins to arrive, we tend to move toward the comfort of home, and so does our reflective consciousness move inward to the warmth of self. These dragons are not external monsters, but rather live within all humankind; yet, we can overcome any struggle with our awakened righteous consciousness-our spear! Join us to celebrate and rejoice in Michael’s spirit.
Burning bright my shield and spear
strong and true my bow
against the dragons fearful might
to battle forth I go
with mighty arm and noble heart
firm steps I fearless take
to conquer him who binds us all
for mankind’s sake I rise up tall.
