A Tale from Tibet | All the way to Lhasa
How far is it to Lhasa? Very far. Up windy slopes, over mountain torrents and snow, a boy and his yak keep going. Will they ever reach the holy city of Lhasa? The boy doesn’t know, but an old woman has told him he can make it there before nightfall. Its wise and simple message will encourage children of any age who dream of a shining goal that seems “very far.”
Children ages 3 – 9 will enjoy this story as it comes alive with silk marionettes. Following the performance, delicious popsicles will be served in the playgarden.
Saturday | March 2 | 10am – 12pm
The Grades and Early Childhood Departments will host an Experience the Grades morning at our school. Parents will have an opportunity to experience the grades curriculum through hands-on mini-lessons from movement activities and blackboard work, you will be a 1st grade student and work your way up through the upper-grade levels! This is a very special event and not to be missed.
All parents of rising 1st graders are respectfully asked to attend. This is a glimpse into a Waldorf grades program, and much different than a “school tour.” Rather, it is a sampling of the unique aspects of the 1st – 8th grade curriculum delivery of a Waldorf school.
We kindly ask that parents RSVP for this event (adults only, but child care may be provided should enough families need it).

Michaelmas, a festival of awakening the “will” and fostering “courage”, is celebrated in Waldorf schools across the globe. Michael, translates to a question, “Who is like God?” and calls on our higher forces to face our inner “dragons”. This time of year, when the summer’s sun wanes and the cold and crisp air begins to arrive, we tend to move toward the comfort of home, and so does our reflective consciousness move inward to the warmth of self. These dragons are not external monsters, but rather live within all humankind; yet, we can overcome any struggle with our awakened righteous consciousness-our spear! Join us to celebrate and rejoice in Michael ’s spirit.
Burning bright my shield and spear,
Strong and true my bow.
Against the dragons fearful might
To battle forth I go!
With mighty arm and noble heart
Firm steps I fearless take,
To conquer him who binds us all
For mankind’s sake, I rise up tall.
