About Our Community

Festivals & Events

Nevada Sage Waldorf School celebrates festivals as joyful acknowledgments of the rhythms of the year and the cycles of nature. Our rich festival life lifts us beyond the ordinary, offering a chance to sustain and renew ourselves. Through these celebrations, we strengthen our community and establish a comforting yearly rhythm for the children. We honor the elements of festival—light, food, song, and story—in ways that cultivate wonder, reverence, and gratitude.

Our school thrives because of our engaged and active community, where the relationships between parents, children, and teachers are central to our success. When parents are actively involved and willing to volunteer, it fosters a healthy and vibrant school environment. These contributions directly support our classrooms by nurturing our teachers and creating a strong foundation for learning.

Parent participation also plays a crucial role in keeping tuition affordable. Our volunteers serve as gardeners, plumbers, painters, carpenters, and assist with tasks such as finance, marketing, administration, and fundraising. These efforts are carried out with love and dedication, and seeing parents give their time instills in our children a sense of responsibility and ownership of their school.

Each family is asked to contribute 20 volunteer hours annually as part of their tuition commitment, with many opportunities available to get involved.

Parent Council

We believe that a strong school community is built on the dedication, talent, and generosity of parents like you. When we come together and collaborate as a community, both our school and our children will thrive.

Mission

The Parent Council’s mission is to actively support the work of the board, faculty, and administration on behalf of our children, and contributes to the intellectual, physical, and social climate of the school by providing:

  • An organized, invigorated volunteer force.

  • An opportunity to get to know other parents within the school.

  • A communication bridge between the administration, faculty, Board of Trustees and the parent body.

  • Educational opportunities for parents that deepen their understanding and appreciation of Waldorf education.

  • A forum for parents to communicate and discuss issues of concern.

  • An opportunity to learn more about what is happening behind the scenes at the school.

  • An opportunity to plan and execute festivals and activities throughout the year.

Getting Connected

The Parent Council meets each month. All parents are automatically a member of Parent Council and are encouraged to participate. Participants leave Parent Council Meetings feeling informed about school news, connected with parents and teachers, and inspired to get involved and share unique gifts and talents with the community. The Parent Council is always looking for valuable input and participation of all parents.

You are invited to join a Parent Council Meeting! Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month from 3:45-4:45.
