About 6th Grade

At Nevada Sage Waldorf School, the sixth grade marks a significant transition as students approach adolescence. With a heightened curiosity about the outer world, they explore subjects that mirror their inner transformations. For instance, the study of Geology and Mineralogy, including the exploration of volcanoes, reflects the intense, often explosive emotions of puberty.

In addition, sixth graders delve into the themes of gravity and weight, both in their bodies and the world around them. This is complemented by the study of Astronomy, with opportunities for night sky observations during outdoor field trips. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to align with students' developing capacity to understand cause and effect. To deepen this understanding, students study Ancient Rome and Medieval times, two historical eras that offer a sense of structure, order, and a quest for justice—concepts that resonate deeply with the sixth grader's search for beauty, contemplation, and a more profound understanding of the world.
